INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2019
Building on the 2019 theme of International Women’s Day, “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change,” the Law Society of Ontario, in partnership with the Barbra Schlifer Clinic, Women Lawyers Forum Section of the Ontario Bar Association, Women’s Law Association of Ontario, Canadian Association of Women Executives and Entrepreneurs, Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund and the Criminal Lawyer Association, is hosting an event focused on Artificial Intelligence, unconscious bias and social change.

Speaker Biography:Valentine Goddard (Moderator)
Valentine Goddard is a recognized expert on the ethical and social implications of artificial intelligence (AI). She founded the AI on a Social Mission Conference, an event designed to facilitate a cross sectoral and multidisciplinary dialogue on the ethical and social implications of AI. She is also the founder of Artificial Intelligence Impact Alliance (AIIA), a non-profit aimed at empowering civil society organizations with machine learning as well as driving policy towards an ethical and sustainable implementation of AI. As a lawyer and certified mediator, she has practiced refugee, labour, social and administrative law in addition to lobbying for a better access to justice. She has taught comparative law in Japan as well as initiated and funded cultural mediation projects aimed at human rights education. In short, human dignity is at the heart of her multidisciplinary approach to nurturing the development of AI for Social Good.​

Helen Kontozopoulos (Panelist)
Helen Co-Founded ODAIA, an AI SaaS sales optimization and customer journey analytics platform for enterprise companies. ODAIA is a startup out of the University of Toronto. She teaches at the University of Toronto, in the Department of Computer Science (St.George campus) and Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (Scarborough Campus), where she teaches product development, design, and entrepreneurship.  Since being on the UofT/IBM Watson teaching team in 2014, she has been working on researching the relationship between human behaviour and artificial intelligence.

To Anh Tran (Panelist)
To Anh Tran is a senior corporate digital executive with more than 15 years of industry experience and an impressive record of accomplishment as Global CIO, Managing Director, SVP of Global Business Transformation, Global VP of Operations and Head of Digital Client Experience in powerhouse organizations like General Electric Power Systems, DundeeWealth Corporation, ForStar Group, OANDA FX and Future Electronics. Most recently To Anh has been operating her own Strategic Advisory Management Consulting practice and currently assisting the Canada federal government in the advisory capacity in driving innovation and investing in Canadian start-ups, SMEs and global corporations. Her current portfolio clients consists of a mix of incubators, accelerators and high growth in : Fintech, Manufacturing, Telecom, Legal, and Healthcare covering emerging technologies : Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, AI, Virtual Reality(VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Quantum and Cloud Computing/SaaS and Digital Mobile Payments.
Anh graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of in Computer Science in Software Engineering and from College de Maisonneuve with a degree in Pure and Applied Science. She graduated from Canadian Board Education program and is servicing several Boards for the last 8 years.
