This IoT workshop in London opens a series of Global IoT events and a 3-Day IoT Conference in Toronto, all part of SMARTWEEK 2014, a month of exploring emerging smart technologies in October 2014.

THE INVITATION is open to anyone with an interest in IoT, IoE, M2M and how they impact everyday living. On Wednesday, October 15th, we will be presenting a day long workshop where IoT start-ups will get an opportunity to pitch their projects and hear about a range of applications in smart connecting technologies.

We are looking forward to hearing from exciting start-ups, innovators, IoT pioneers and enthusiasts that want to help us build a community and enhance collaboration, trade and IoT business links between the UK and Canada.

The London workshop will open with a keynote presentation by ARM, the world's leading semiconductor IP company that is at the heart of the world's most digital products. ARM design scalable, energy efficient and related technologies that deliver excellence in applications from sensors to smartphones to enterprise infrastructure and the Internet of Things. ARM has recently launched the mbed OS, ideal for constrained devices. www.arm.com

BRISTOL IS OPEN
How cities work is changing. Developments in software, hardware and telecom networks are enabling more interaction between people and places and more machine-to-machine communication, creating an internet of things. Opening-up and making sense of this will give citizens more ability to interact, work and play with their city. Smart city technologies will be able to respond in real-time to everyday events including congestion, waste management, entertainment events, e-democracy, energy supply and more.
Bristol Is Open is developing an open programmable city region. It is a collaboration between the technology, media & telecommunications industry, universities, local communities, and local and national government. The project is governed by a joint venture between University of Bristol and Bristol City Council.

SOCIOTAL
An EU funded collaboration, SOCIOTAL aims to design and provide key enablers for a reliable, secure and trusted IoT environment that will enable creation of a socially aware citizen-centric Internet of Things by encouraging people to contribute their IoT devices and information flows. It will provide the techno-social foundations to unlock billions of new IoT information streams taking a citizen-centric IoT approach towards creation of large-scale IoT solutions of interest to the society. By equipping communities with secure and trusted tools that increase user confidence in IoT environment, SOCIOTAL will enable their transition to smart neighbourhood, communities and cities.
