Hira’s Bio

Hira works in the Digital Operations department at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), as a Usability Specialist. Her work involves user experience (UX) research for various digital products offered by the CBC. She also teaches User Experience Design for University of Waterloo's Global Business and Digital Arts program. Her areas of interest include Human Computer Interaction and digital humanities.

TOPIC: UX of Ephemeral Messaging

In a world flooded with messaging apps, the likes of SnapChat and Frankly have hit the sweet spot for the privacy-conscious user. Once viewed, text and video messages self-destruct within seconds. The disposable nature of these messages creates a sense of relief and security, knowing that your goofy selfies leave no trail of data.

Join us on Thursday July 31st, to discuss how the user experience of these apps builds trust and creates a perception of ephemerality.
